Be Prepared
Digital License Renewal DLL Working to Solve the Problem In the initial issue of the May NewsMagazine, I was frustrated. Digital licensing renewal was not going well. I receive numerous calls about licensees trying to renew online and having no results. Folks call several times and can’t get anyone. WHY? That is a fair question and one that can be easily answered. They will eventually get with you and get your license renewed. They are great and amazingly polite. As many calls as they take, listening to the same story from frustrated licensees, and still keep their cool. That is amazing. That is not to let the Department of Labor and Licensing off the hook. The digital license renewal did not roll out smoothly but it is not the fault of those that you talk to when you call in. What is our roll — the roll of the frustrated, upset, and downright disgusted licensee having trouble renewing? Hundreds, if not thousands, are trying to renew their license. The staff just cannot quickly get around to that many people.
Make sure that you have your license renewal form, your proof of liability insurance, and 4 hours of continuing education certificates readily available on your computer so you can load them when you speak with personnel. Don’t say , “Well, I’ll have to get back to you.” Just be prepared to follow instructions — right then if they ask for it. Remember — BE PREPARED. With hundreds and perhaps thousands of licensees trying to renew, we can expect delays. We can fuss, cuss, and kick rocks but that will not make it any faster. Find your inner peace, say a little prayer, and know that it will eventually work out. Allowing our temper to flair will only work against us and make our blood pressure rise. The Bible says, “Trials worketh peace.” Well, this is a trial and we can let it create peace or anger. It is your choice. The folks you talk to are doing their best to serve our industry. They are our friends and partners. I know that we all are super frustrated but so are they. Frustrated folks can work together to solve the problem in a polite cooperative manner or not. Again, it is our choice. You are not in this alone. At this point, everyone is having the same problem. Will they get it solved so that licensees renewing in the future will have an easier path? I don’t know. I do know they are trying and that is some consolation. Be Patient Be Polite Conclusion
Be Persistent
Regardless of the number of days you have called, call again today or tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. In other words, don’t stop calling. You will get through.
