OH MY!!!!
It’s the Meeces,
Chocolate Meeces that is.
Thanksgiving and Christmas are just around the corner and it’s time for the wonderful smells of the holiday seasons coming from the kitchen. Ya’ gotta’ love this time of year. Even the kids can get involved. Nana has great fun making Chocolate Mice. It takes a bit of time but is easy and something that the kids can enjoy helping her do. Chocolate Mice Recipe By: Nana Serves 20 Ingredients: 8 oz semisweet banking chocolate ¼ bar paraffin 10 oz Cherries w/stems about 40 13 oz Hershey Kisses about 80 2.25 oz almonds sliced 1 tube red glossy decorating jell Directions: 1. Melt chocolate and paraffin in a double-boiler 2. Separate sliced Almonds in pairs. Try to get two close to the same size 3. Unwrap 40 Hershey Kisses 4. Once chocolate is melted, gently dip the cherry in the chocolate 5. Make sure to cover the cherry completely, leaving on the tip of the red stem. 6. After dipping the cherry, place it on wax paper and attach a Hershey Kiss to the round end of the cherry. 7. Let harden, get the almonds and gently place the tip of the round end of the almond in chocolate and place on the flat part of the Hershey Kiss, slightly at an angle. These are the ears. Make sure the point is up. 8. With red tube icing, put a dot on the pointed part of the Hershey Kiss for the nose and just above either side of the nose for the eyes. “Oh, I love to eat dem’ little meeces, I love to eat dem’ ever day. I love to bite da’ little heads off and nibble off da’ little toes. O O Oh, I love to eat dem’ little meeces…” From the putty cat book of holiday celebration songs and rhymes.
