Final Thoughts
2014 Energy Code meetings to introduce our industry to the new code. The State Energy Office provided funds to provide meetings in 8 locations across the state and the Chief Mechanical Inspector provided the program. Without this partnership of agencies and the Associations, our industry would have been in the dark. Lunch & Learn: monthly podcast with Tony Woodard, Chief Mechanical Inspector, providing code information. November begins the 5 th year. NewsMagazine: a free digital magazine published 5 times a year covering national, state and local HVACR news. Special attention is given to legislative and regulatory issues. Contributors include nationally known trainers who provide their articles as a service to the Arkansas HVACR industry. This issue begins year 8. Apprenticeship: Arkansas HVACR Association Apprenticeship 2017 AE68770 DOL approved and beginning with a rocky start, it is still working to provide a career path for apprentices, productive employees for contractors, and proficient installers and technicians for homeowners and businesses. Ten years ago, I was honored to become the Executive Director of the Arkansas HVACR Association. Nancy McCool had served in that position for about 15 years. She gave exemplary service and was kind enough to recommend me to replace her. Chuck Hooks, State President, and Eddie Fox, State Secretary, agreed and November 2014, I came on board. It has been a great 10 years to serve the Arkansas HVACR industry. The Association has come a long way but we have so much further to go. Of all the lessons I have learned one thing reigns supreme. We can’t do it alone. No one cares what Tom Hunt thinks, but they do want to know what the industry thinks. When we support and move as partners in an Association committed to professionalism and quality and customer health and safety, the legislature and regulators listen. When we work together, we can have classes that support our industry and consumers. None of it happens in a vacuum. All 8 chapters have been supportive and patient. Here are a few of the Association’s accomplishments.
